U7 Recreational Soccer General Information for Fall 2008:
- Coed
- Born between August 1, 2001 and July 31, 2002
- Small-sided games: 4 versus 4
- 8 players per team
- No goalkeeper
- Size 3 ball
- Four equal quarters of 8 minutes each
- One practice per week
- Field size: 30 yds. x 40 yds.
Players should bring the following to practices and games:
- tennis shoes or soccer cleats
- size 3 soccer ball
- soccer shorts (black for games)
- shin guards
- water bottle
This age group is all about FUN! Kids this age do not need to be coached with exhaustive drills--the kids should just learn to enjoy the game of soccer. The most important thing is that each participant have plenty of touches on the ball. Coaches are allowed on the field to act as coach, call out of bounds, and to monitor any rough play.
Please, please consider being a coach. YOU DO NOT NEED SOCCER EXPERIENCE AT THIS LEVEL! Practices are combined with games on Saturdays, so it is very easy to find the time to coach. In the past we've had to turn kids away and form fewer teams because we did not have enough coaches--please don't let that happen this year!
