The Lake Travis Rec Plus program was started to create a stronger player development program for the serious U9 and U10 recreational soccer player. Rec Plus is comprised of those interested U9 to U10 year old rec players who have demonstrated an ability and passion for the game. The purpose of the Rec Plus program was to give those more serious or advanced rec players a chance to train/compete against some stronger competition and work more closely with the select trainers. The Rec Plus team is a middle step between rec soccer and select soccer for those considering trying out for our select program in the future. Those interested players would train on Mondays & Wednesdays and play their games on Saturdays (8v8 format) against other Austin area club's Academy teams. Lake Travis Rec Plus team members do not play on any other Lake Travis recreational team. The Lake Travis Rec Plus team is open to any and all willing and able to make the commitments outlined below.

In order to make sure parents understand the Rec Plus program prior to commitment, all interested players MUST attend the Rec Plus Observation Day prior to the season. A mandatory parent meeting will also take place at this same meeting. Players not represented at the parent meeting will not be allowed to register for Rec Plus. This is NOT A TRYOUT - we have just found this meeting provides a good way for parents to fully understand the program prior to season beginning.

Program Dues & Commitments:

Fees: $376.00, which is applied to the cost of coaches, CAYSA registration fee, LTYA facilities fee, referees, uniforms, (socks & shorts included), and other maintenance related costs.
Practice & Games: Two training sessions per week (roughly 12-14 weeks) beginning in mid January and at least one game on weekends. Practices are usually from 4:30-5:45 or 5:45-7:00 on Mondays/Wednesdays at the Field of Dreams. The Lake Travis select coaching staff will conduct the training sessions and coach the games. Games will be played at both Field of Dreams and at other Austin area clubs.

Registration Note: All players interested in Rec Plus must register for the Recreational Soccer program. If after the mandatory meeting you decide to stay in Rec Plus, you will then be billed for the additional fees involved in Rec Plus. A minimum of 11 players (with a maximum of 12 players) is required for a team to form and two teams will be formed in an age group if there are enough players.

Advantages of Rec Plus:

  • Training two nights per week with Lake Travis coaching staff
  • Development of technical skills with tactical overtones
  • To play and train against strong competition to help development
  • Exposure to Lake Travis select coaches/trainers
  • Rec Plus is the first step to the next level!

Differences between Rec and Rec Plus
The Lake Travis Rec Plus Team is geared towards those rec players who have demonstrated:

  1. a strong ability level
  2. are serious about the game of soccer
  3. interested in improving their skills/ability
  4. may be interested in playing select soccer in the near future
  5. willing and able to commit (as player and family) to all the additional requirements of the Rec Plus Program

Please contact Director of Coaching, Tim Chestney, tchestney@austin.rr.com if you have any questions regarding Rec +.
