and superior abilities (for his age) when it comes to playing baseball. Is he
allowed to move up into an older league to play with players who have like
abilities?

Are player eligibility boundaries the

Are the boundaries the same for all age
groups?
Team Placement Requests:
Can I request that my child not play
or practice on certain nights due to other extracurricular, family or religious
commitments?
The league, when organizing teams,
cannot promise to fulfill requests regarding play or practice nights. However,
your request will be passed on to the coaches during the selection process and if
they can accommodate this request they may choose to do so. (See general
comments below)
Is my child automatically placed back
on the same team they played on last spring?
For leagues where teams are made
up of players from two age groups the answer is YES, if they are returning to the
same overall league.
The exception to this rule is if you request that your child be placed back into
the player draft (see below for details.) Players are always reshuffled when they move up into the
next league.
If the league is made up of only
single year player teams, then those teams are reshuffled each year.
Is my child on the same team for both
the spring and fall seasons?
No, new fall teams are selected
every year and they do not have any affiliation to the teams formed in the
spring or with the previous falls team.
Can I request that my child play on a
team with their best friend?
The league, when organizing teams,
cannot fulfill requests to have children paired up on teams with their friends.
(See general comments below)
Can I request that my child be put on
a team with a friend so that we can carpool to games and practices?
The league, when organizing teams,
cannot fulfill requests to have children paired up on teams because of
carpooling requests. (See general comments below)
Can I request that my player be
placed on a team with a specific Coach?
The league, when organizing teams, cannot fulfill
requests to have children placed with specific coaches. However, this comment
is passed along to managers when selecting teams. . (See general comments
below)
Can I request that my player NOT
be placed on a team with a specific Coach?
The league will honor all valid
requests to not place players on teams with a coaching conflict. However
to be a valid request, an explanation as to why that player can not be placed
with that specific coach must be given to the league commissioner, league vice
president or president in writing. Merely stating a desire in the comment
section of the registration form is NOT acceptable. All explanations are
discreetly reviewed and if the reason for not pairing a player and coach is
valid. If valid a simple note stating that a specific team (not a coach) is not
a placement option for that player will be presented during the team selection
process.
(also see the re-drafting option
below for league returning players)
Can I request that my player NOT be
placed on a team with a specific other player?
This is a very unfortunate
situation but the league, when organizing teams, cannot fulfill requests to not
have certain children placed on teams with other specific players. However,
this comment is passed along to managers when selecting teams and a conscious
effort is undertaken to avoid placing players with historical issues (between
them) on the same team. (See general comments below)
Can I choose to have (or not have) my
child placed on the same team as his sibling?
The league will honor this
request either way. A notation will appear next to your childs name stating
your request.
Can we have our player placed back
into the draft in the hopes that they are placed on a different team than they
played on last spring--is that possible?
Yes, you may request your player be placed back
in the player draft (no justification is necessary). However, they will need to
redo their player assessment for the current season and they may be redrafted
back on to the team same team they had played for in the previous spring.
Do my team placement requests carry
forward with each registration?
No. Requests for team placement considerations
must be made at the beginning of each new each season. Also note that requests are individual and must
be placed on each child's registration form separately.
In General: As an organization we try to construct
teams that are equivalent in abilities at the start of the season and cannot
constrain the selection process. This is why as a league we have spring player
skills assessments (try-outs) and a player selection draft in all leagues above
Shetland. We also highly value the opportunity to form new friendships, which
will happen when teams are formed with children from all over the Lake Travis
community.
Requests for pairing players (regardless of reason) are
presented to the team managers when selecting teams. If a manager feels that
they can accommodate the requests in the normal team selection process then they
may choose to do so.
League Placement
Requests:
My child misses the cut-off date by 1
day; can they play in the same league as their friends?
No, leagues are formed by age and
the cut-off dates are hard and fast when determining which league your child
will play in.
My child has tremendous natural
abilities and superior abilities (for his age) when it comes to playing
baseball. Is he allowed to move up into an older league to play with players
who have like abilities?
No, leagues are formed by age.
This is the only criterion used when deciding in which league your child will
play.
My child has never played baseball
before is it possible that he plays a season in a lower league until he
understands the game better?
No, leagues are formed by age.
This is the only criterion used when deciding in which league your child will
play.
In General: League affiliation rules for baseball
(Little League, PONY or USSSA) dictate what the age cut-offs are for each
league. The leagues insurance policies will also not cover anyone not placed
in the appropriate league. Please note that league eligibility determinations
for Softball are different then they are for Baseball. The above rules apply to
the baseball programs. For softball-specific inquiries, please contact the
softball commissioner directly.
Wait listing:
I registered before the close of the
registration period but my status shows that we are "Wait Listed" What does that
mean, am I registered or not?
Wait listing will occur when we
cannot accept any additional players into a specific league or age group. (the
specific reasons for a waitlist to form are given below)
My one child's registration was accepted,
but my other child is listed as on a wait list. Why did this happen?
Wait lists are league-dependent;
children in different leagues may have different registration results.
If I am placed on a wait list, is there
any chance my child will be able to play?
We will make every possible
effort to include your child in the league. Waitlists occur because of the
normal uncertainties associated with forming leagues through the registration
process. We will know better if there is room once the registration period is
over.
Will I be charged a late fee if my
registration status changes after the registration process closes?
No.
How is it determined that I was put on
a wait list?
Registrations are accepted on a
first-come, first-registered basis. The exception is if a registrant is from
outside the LTYA boundaries and the league expects to fill to capacity by
pulling only from within the youth association boundaries. In these situations
families from outside the LTYA boundaries will be automatically waitlisted.
How are people pulled off of a waitlist?
Wait listed registrations are
accepted on a first-come, first-registered basis, once it has been determined how
much capacity is available. Some exceptions may be made
based on the volunteer commitments of parents should the league need
these parents as volunteers (i.e. coaches) in order to expand the league.
In General, there are many different reasons for
being placed on a wait list. These reasons include:
-
As a league we are either close to or at field capacity, and cannot
accommodate any more teams/players.
-
We currently do not have enough volunteers to act as coaches and managers
with which to form additional teams in that league
-
We do not have any volunteers avaiable to organize and coordinate the
league's activities
-
You reside in an area outside of the LTYA boundaries, and the league
you have tried to registered for can reasonably be expected to reach capacity
by accepting players from with in the LTYA boundaries.
If you have any questions concerning waitlists, please
contact the appropriate league commissioner or other league official. These
individual may be able to identify the reason for your child being waitlisted
and the possibility of being taken off of the wait list once the registration
process is concluded. The league will have a better understanding of player
capacity once the registration period is closed. Please note that your
registration payment is not processed if you are waitlisted.
League Boundaries:
What are the league boundaries for
Lake Travis Baseball/Softball?
In general the boundaries for baseball and
softball follow the Lake Travis Independent School District (LTISD) boundaries.
Some adjacent neighborhoods are also included in these boundaries.
Are player eligibility boundaries the
same as registration boundaries?
No, players wanting to
participate in our recreational leagues may register from anywhere. Boundaries
apply when leagues are faced with registration
capacity considerations and for All-star eligibility.
Are the boundaries the same for all
age groups?
No, there are some variations in boundary limits
for each league. The specific limits are determined by the league affiliation
(Little League, PONY, USSA) governing board.
In General: A
family's home address and zip code are used to determine their boundary status
for the league. For this reason, you should use your home mailing address when
registering to avoid confusion.
